Your Pinata!

Complete these steps at least one day before you plan to use your pinata, to ensure proper drying time of the glue. Take your pinata and a pair of scissors. Cut a hole in the pinata, just large enough to fit the paper tube (talking device) into. The device can go anywhere on the pinata that there is enough space to hold it. |

Take the talking device and the glue. Put as much glue as you feel you need around the edges of the paper tube. The more glue you put, the better the device will stay in the pinata. Clear-drying glue is recommended. |

Take the talking device and the pinata (which should look similar to the one at the left). Put the paper tube into the hole in the pinata and add more glue if necessary; the open end should face out of the front of the pinata. |

Fill the pinata with candy by turning the pinata around to its back, and finding the three-sided door. Pull out as much of the newspaper you want (the more you pull out, the larger the space will be to fill up with candy) and pour candy in through the door you've cut, closing it afterwards. |

When you are ready to use your pinata, activate the talking device by moving the switch in the front of the device and your pinata will be ready! |

Tie a rope to the pinata's hanger. Throw the other end of the rope over a branch and hold it in your hand. Make the pinata move by pulling on the rope. It is recommended that for breaking the pinata, you use a pinata buster or a whiffle bat. It is not recommended to use a metal or wooden bat. The child swinging at the pinata may be blindfolded. It is recommended to start with the smallest child and go up. Keep the other children away from the pinata and the child who is swinging at the pinata. Give each child three to five swings at the pinata, starting with the smallest child, to ensure that each child has an opportunity to swing at the pinata. Have fun! When the pinata bursts open, make sure the child with the buster stops swinging before the other kids try to grab the candy. To ensure that each child gets candy, some parents throw out additional candy or provide each child with a goody bag. |
